Rationality Games & Apps
Even though we’re big believers in the idea that a successful movement needs real-life connections between people, not just online content, we also see a huge potential for software to further the spread of rationality. Our mission is to help people form new habits of reasoning and decision-making, while changing old and ingrained habits. There’s no way to do that without repeated practice — and you’re much more likely to practice if it’s fun.

We’ve got two apps in beta-testing already that turn core rationality skills into games: The Calibration Game trains players to be appropriately confident (neither over- nor under-confident) in their beliefs. The Updating Game trains players to update their own beliefs the appropriate amount in response to hearing the beliefs of others. We’re also working with a developer to create a series of arcade-style games which train players to avoid cognitive biases like the sunk cost fallacy and the confirmation bias.
